Programs for after-school settings

Introduction
There are two options for Consciousness-Based^SM education in an after-school setting; Total Knowledge Clubs or the Consciousness-Based education program within the context of an existing after-school club or organization.

Total Knowledge Clubs
Total Knowledge Clubs are for groups of at least 5 children in a supervised setting who are already practicing the Transcendental Meditation^® program or Maharishi Word of Wisdom^SM technique. The club format provides instruction for group meditation, knowledge of Natural Law taught in age-appropriate lessons, and enjoyable learning activities including songs, stories, plays, nature study, and art.

The club schedule is established locally, with at least one meeting per week, after school or on the weekend. The purpose of the Total Knowledge club is to enliven the total creative potential—Total Knowledge—within each student. The curriculum fee for the club is $17.50 per hour for each student enrolled during the year.

Existing after-school programs and clubs
The Consciousness-Based education program can be easily implemented into existing after-school club or organization. It includes the practice of the Transcendental Meditation program, a Natural Law curriculum (optional), and a professional development program for the teachers of the program.

CBEA provides all of the needed materials to implement the Consciousness-Based education portion of the program. This program is almost identical to the Consciousness-Based education program in a school, with slight changes for the different attendance schedule of the students. The cost to implement the program is $2,500 per student or teacher participant, plus the curriculum fee for the club ($17.50 per hour for each student enrolled during the year).

If the organization sponsoring the club or after-school program is not able to provide the full financial resources to implement the program, foundation grants for schools, and low interest educational loans (with payments as low as $50 per month) for qualifying students and parents, are available to implement the program.
